Just got back from seeing The Proposal. If you have seen the preview for this movie it is everything that you think it is. The thing is though that even though it is formulaic and you can see all the twists and turns coming from a mile away the leads make it a little something more. No one does straight faced sarcastic comedy quite like Ryan Reynolds and no one can play the ice queen with an actual heart and feelings quite like Sandra Bullock. These two aparently are friends in real life and that chemistry actually comes through in their performances and you can feel the chemistry that they share. The movie starts off as a standard romantic comedy that has a bit of a slapstick feel to it but somewhere about 2/3rds of the way into the movie the movie shows some genuine heart.
You know exactly where these two people are going to end up at the end of the movie but it is an enjoyable ride nonetheless.
If you want to go enjoy yourself at the movies this weekend and you have already seen The Hangover (and if you haven't then you really must) then I would recommend this to anyone. Best movie ever? No. A good time at the movies? A hearty yes.
