The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
My rating: 2 of 5 stars
I had read this book in an English high school class a long time ago and I always had it in my head that I didn't like the book. I just reread it for work and I have to say, it didn't change my mind. I'm not sure why I don't like this book but I think it's because of the fact that none of the characters in the book are very endearing or even at all likable. The narrator is pretty apathetic an only really serves as a witness to all of the goings on of the spoiled rich people around him who seem to have everything yet nothing at all. Just goes to show, money isn't the answer to everything and sometimes it just makes douchebags out of people! Now I have to go and find something useful to tell my students when we discuss this book in class. It IS a literary classic after all!
