So before I begin my review I need to share 2 of my favorite moments from tonight. I took my six year old to see the movie with me and provided me with my favorite moments. 1) When Kirk is on the ice planet hoth. . . errrr not hoth but the Star Trek equivalent. . . . . anyway he turns to me and says "Is he going to see Santa?" HA!
2) During one of the scenes with Spock he looks at me and says "Is that Spark?" HAHAHA! Kids can be funny.
Anyway just had to share, and now on with the review.
So I may get my sci-fi nerd card pulled for admitting this but I have never. . . seen. . . Star Trek 2 The Wrath of Khan (arguably the best Star Trek movie) all the way through. You see I am a Star Wars guy, always have been, always will be. I have actually never seen Star Trek 1-3 all the way through. I didn't start watching them really until the 4th movie. I have watched some of the original episodes and even some of the next generation episodes, I know enough of the Trek universe to get by but I am by no means a big fan. I am telling you this so you understand where I am coming from when I tell you that this new Star Trek. . . . . IS FRAKKING AWESOME!!!!!
From the opening moments to the closing credits this movie is just fantastic. It has action, comedy, drama, and yes even a little romance. If you are at all familiar with Star Trek or any of it's characters, catch phrases or rituals then you will absolutely love this film. If you aren't familiar with any of these things you will still enjoy this movie because it is just that good. So far this year this is the best movie that I have seen. I will even say that it is the Dark Knight of 2009. My favorite part of the movie has to be Karl Urban as Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy. He absolutely nails the character from his first moment on screen. I don't really know what else to say other than. . . GO SEE THIS MOVIE! If you don't find something in it that you like . . . well you have no soul and not enjoying movies is the least of your troubles.
Until next time "Live long and prosper" and just to keep balance in the universe "May the force be with you".

I just saw it (Imax) and I concur, my good man. The movie was great even though they lost me with the whole time travel plot. I stopped trying to wrap my brain around exactly how things happened and just enjoyed the eye candy instead. And by eye candy, I don't mean hot dudes, I just mean great effects.
